Review - I am Latino and have traveled and lived in Spain, and this restaurant offers glimpses of the cuisine. We sat in the lower chamber where the dim lighting was reminiscent of certain drinking places in Madrid. The music was not overpowering to the ear when we went. Service was acceptable, although our biggest gripe is that the timing of the dishes was incredibly staggered. Some dishes arrived much later than others, and the four of us had to resort to sharing dishes in order to accommodate the ones who had to wait for their meals. The sangria was very, very weak. Or maybe the ice in our pitcher melted and diluted it. The monkfish in granny's sauce was a bit tougher than any monkfish fillet I have ever eaten, but the sauce was delicious.
I would return again to sample some of the other dishes, but not before visiting Puerto Spain across the street for a better taste of Spanish cuisine!

Review - My wife and I traveled through Spain on our honeymoon for 3 weeks and ate at countless tapas bars, many of which were recommended by our spanish friends and/or guide books. And Lola's is on literally on par with the best of them. Having eaten there 5 times now, I can say that every thing I have ordered has been nothing less that great. The volcano beef comes with four cuts of amazingly juicy and tender filet mignon. The shrimp pica que te pica are perfectly cooked and smothered in an authentic spanish hot sauce. Any of the squid dishes are fabulous, and again perfectly cooked (tender, not chewy). And the cigalas (supersize shrimp) taste amazingly fresh. Hint: two hungry people can split about 5 tapas.
What keeps my food rating from being a 50 are the generally mediocre desserts (what, no flan on a spanish menu?!?!?), but the mousse desserts are fantastic, assuming you have any room left for them.
As one of our waiters once told us, I think some translation may be lost between the american waitstaff and hispanic kitchen, as we occasionally receive something close to, but not exactly, what we ordered (ie, wrong squid dish) or something gets omitted. But the staff seems to be improving over time.
So if you're looking for something other than the large portions of mediocre seafood that you get at most spanish restaurants (ie, Puerto Spain across the street or on Ferry Street in Newark), get your colita over to Lola's!

Review - This restaurant has great potential, but is not quite there yet. The music does not fit the decor andit is about 3 notches too loud. The staff, although helpful has a hard time with the english language (and apparently with spanish as well...not sure where they are from) the sangria was lovely and the tapas were good (although portions a bit small for the $$) def should change the music to more of a spanish flare and take the monopoly in hoboken..Spanish Rock fridays perhaps? the room downstairs is beautiful for private parties.

Review - Four of us arrived around 7pm on a Friday night and didn't have to wait but did get very busy soon after. Tapas selection very extensive and also had good specials. Prices averaged $9/plate. Ordered the chorizo con pimientos y cebolla, tortilla espanola, pulpo a la plancha, and filet mignon carpaccio. All very good and had great sauce to dip the bread into. Had two pitchers of sangria but should have just ordered two bottles of red to get the best bang for buck. We ended up ordering two more plates (chorizos a la vino tinto and gambas ajillo). Could have ate all night long but stopped with the dessert. Not a great spanish selection but nonetheless also good. The atmosphere got very loud with the music and found ourselves shouting to converse. We didn't mind but I could see how this could be annoying. Place was decorated nicely though the barrel stand table we sat in didn't allow to stretch your legs. Overall, I would recommend this place but if you are really hungry, you could end up spending some dinero.

Review - Food is ok, nothing spectacular. There are a few memorable dishes, however. Sangria is ok, but at $20 for 75% ice its kind of a rip-off. Agreed with other reviewers, music is Waaaaaaaaay too loud! I could understand if they turn it up after 10:00 when it shifts to more of a bar scene, but earlier than that it is unecessarily loud.

Review - The food was great and the decor is nice, though the rock music was loud and horrible and basically ruins the great meal unfortunately! Been to Spain and the food here is comparable, prices are reasonable for the portions, but you cant even have a conversation and you feel like you are in a dance club.

Review - The food at Lolas is really tasty, authentic and very well presented, I recommend the volcano filet mignon, very tasty and cooked to perfection. Very extensive wine list, we chose 2 of the lower end ones, $25 and they were so good. We went early evening saturday night and didn't have a reservation but about 20 mins later the place was really packed. Overall, I highly recommend this place, it sure beats all the other mediocre Hoboken restaurants.

Review - Service was attentive, however our waitress remembered our order, but actually forgot to order 1 dish, so we had to wait 20 minutes after we were almost done with everything else. The filet mignon w/peppers & onions was like butter. The shrimp with wine sauce was tasty and cooked to perfection. Monkfish in granmother's sauce was yummy as was the asparagus wrapped in ham, however it kind of had an unexpected breading on it. The potato omlette was heavy, but went well with the filet & shrimp. sangria's great. Dessert was average, but that could have been cause we were full! Coffee was really good. The decor was unique and really comfortable. We will definitely return!

Review - Great atmosphere and service plus a huge menu with over 50 items to choose from. You could go back 5 times and still try different dishes. Also, a wonderful array of Spanish wines. Definitely a must try!

Review - I have been visiting Lola's for some time now... (more than a year)
Lola's food is perfection! Allowing you to have as much or as little as you feel like eating.
The wine list is unbelievable! The wine cellar has room for more than 8000 bottles! The staff is very well educated about the wines as well as the food. If you like red wine I HIGHLY recommend the Etim (pronounced A-tom or A-tem).
I have tried almost everything on the menu and nothing has ever once been a disappointment. Try the Pumpkin Soup it's amazing.
I have had several special occasions there now birthdays and anniversaries... They always have done something special for the event.
I have attended one of the wine tasting they have held... they are very generous with the wine at the tasting and pair the food superbly!
Hoboken parking has long been a reason I don't bother eating in Hoboken more often. They validate parking so I have no problem finding a spot. The parking lot is the other side of 14th street ON Washington on the left hand side just about halfway down the block.
The atmosphere is quaint and cozy
My only complaint is the music does tend to get a bit loud and often leans to techno dance music as the night progresses. I agree that it should be more laid back and traditional Spanish music.
Over all HIGHLY RECOMENDED

Review - This was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten in Hoboken. Music was way too loud, place was dark like a cave! Airplane quality bread, mushy gross asparagus wrapped in some other mush, sandy mussels, scrawny dark meat chicken. Food came out in 2 minutes. Would never go back!

Review - Lola's seems to want to be both hip and classy, a place where you can munch on Spanish snack foods and drink Spanish wine and listen to loud American music. The place had a Spanish feel to it, which made it stand out a little among all of the Irish pubs in town. The service was decent, after I repeated my order a couple of times. The music was a mix of pop/rock music and way too much repetitive bass-heavy dance music. When it started to sound like one of those subwoofer-cars, I had to move on. I don't know if it was the sound system or the music, but there was a headache brewing either way.
In case you didn't notice, the music kind of spoiled it for me.
Some nice Andres Segovia music would have probably fit better with the rest of the experience, but I guess that wouldn't sit well with the lucrative publicly urinating frat-boy market...

Review - Lola's is amazing!! The food is excellent, and the staff is very courteous. The atmosphere is hip and very New York-ish but you feel as if you are in Spain. I mean the place is ALRIGHT, if you like your food delicous, amazing and fresh.

Review - BEWARE the parking situation!! We called Lola's for directions and parking info, and were told to park in the lot at 14th and Washington. We parked in the wrong lot (at 14th and Washington); the car was towed (along with many others), costing us over $400. Both parking lots are under the same ownership - a total scam! Lola's owner was completely unapologetic and admitted no fault for having led us to the wrong lot. P.S. - waiter spilled plate of food all over my husband.
