Review - it sure sounds like you would have been an asset. you, your porsche and I bet your significant other is a real charmer as well. yep, you truly sound like a great guy. no need to respond, we all know that YOU will agree.

Review - haha. I would never have moved in there, I would have resold it. There is no way I would move to that end of town.

And by the way, given that my net worth well exceeds everyone living in that building I probably would have been a great asset to them -- having a Porsche parked in the garage definitely adds to the appeal of a building.

Review - I'm sure the people in the Southgate are crushed that you didn't jump on the 525K price and move on in to their building. You'd be such an asset to the place. Yeah right

Review - I offer factual statements, but am tired of people going into pre-construction and complaining despite the fact that builders more than compensate them for their inconvenience.
Secondly, I live and grew up in Manhattan .

Review - I've been reading these posts for some time now and finally decided to toss one out there. While I agree that the value of the units (at Southgate and others) increase substantially, what I cannot understand is why people who post here have to jump down the throats of people who are simply expressing concern or may not understand the fortunate situation they've fallen into (by getting in at pre-construction rates)

The previous post literally starts out calling people cry babies. Seriously, chill out. It makes you sound like a complete asshole right off the bat. You actually had something interesting to say, but starting out like that killed all your credibility

Thank god people from the city are finally coming to this town. They'll help to raise the standard of these posts, as well as class up the town in general

There you go, pounce away

Review - To the cry baby complaining about having to move in a few months late, consider this. I passed up getting one of the units there for 525k. Less than a year later the same property was flipped and bid up well over 650k. Is that a suitable pacifier?

Review - I have purchased 2 condos from Metrohomes, Charles Court and Huntington. Both were were completed within 4 months of anticipated closing dates. It's funny how everyone is being negative about them but probably entered in contract at a fair price. That's PRECONSTRUCTION people. You buy before it's done and by doing so accept the risk. Would you rather Metrohomes wait until they are finished with the project to set your buy price and pay 100+k more? Sure it's a hassle to deal with but you guys made money. Look at the big picture..when you go to sell someone will most likley be paying you over 150k for your trouble.

BTW..They are the only builder with their corporate offices in Hoboken and stand behind all of their projects..Where are they going to go? You all have a great investment..and you have Metrohomes to thank for your equity.

Review - That's a small inconvenience considering that most of you probably made upwards of 150k before you even moved in. Get things in perspective, that's what happens with pre-construction -- and you were more than compensated for it.

Review - nice attitude. you didn't buy here so you don't know the lies and misinformation that took place over several months. furthermore, some of us who bought were kicked out of our old apartments and left to stay with relatives while waiting for closing. so, please you get a grip.

Review - Attn: I did not purchase a condo here but i think it's funny when people complain about delays in their closing but love to brag about how much their condo went up in value when they move in. People, get a grip...it's all relative.

Review - Anyone have further detail on closings or walkthroughs? This is really absurd. We are now 6 months late and still have to beg for information rather than being approached. Given the lack of response from Metro Homes, I have to figure we're still a month away from closing. Sure glad I locked in a mortgage rate in November... that worked out really well!

Review - How are you defining bubble for Hoboken's real estate market? It seems to me that with the levels of income in the NY metro area coupled with the relative value when compared to just across the Hudson, prices seem fair. Will home prices go down? Nobody really knows, however, in the last 20 yrs or so, real estate values in Hudson County declined 2-3 times. Pretty good track record! On top of that, I don't see less investment in this area. Have you seen the soon to be opened Commerce Bank on Hudson St? W Hotel breaking ground soon. Toll brothers big investment into Hoboken. Those are the professionals. The must know something...don't you think?

Review - You say alarmist, I say realist.

People who claimed the stock market bubble was poised to burst were also called alarmists

Review - Stock market and real estate bubbles are for those who don't otherwise know how to protect themselves. To each's own!

Review - Another alarmist.

Review - yeah - great for all of you that locked in a year ago but the days of appreciation are done

Review - Pre-constructions are so stressful. I would never get involved with one again unless it was for investment purposes only.

Review - I'm waiting for them to complete Liberty Point in Jersey City. It was due for completion in February. I feel you pain however I am happy to say the apartments have already appreciated.

Metrohomes is great quality. Have you been to your new places yet?
(2004-07-30 )

Review - don;t buy new construction !!!!

Its a lousy process...
(2004-07-29 )

Review - Spoke to Metrohomes today 7/27, and they do not have closing dates yet. You have to figure at least 3 weeks notice, so even an August close is looking iffy. Unbelievable. Metrohomes should be ashamed of themselves.
(2004-07-27 )

Review - Does anyone have a closing date yet?
(2004-07-15 )

Review - i concur, this whole experience has been miserable. i would strongly dissuade prospective buyers from using metrohomes. we were under no allusions regarding the delays that are common with new construction but simply need to plan accordingly in terms of having a roof over heads. all we were looking for was a reasonable date to expect completion. we have been told so many lies that it has been insulting. i hope that their reputation will suffer as a result of the way they treat their clients.
(2004-07-09 )

Review - I couldn't agree with you more. Nobody seems willing to tell us the truth. We've now had our supposed closing date moved from March 1, to April to May, to June 15, and now July 15, which I'm sure is not going to happen. Metrohomes' lawyer stated emphatically that the place would be done in May. OK. They now state just as emphatically that the closing date of July 15 is still on. I'm not sure how that can be given the fact that the place is still being worked on.
(2004-07-08 )

Review - In a sellers market - its always a tough experience buying a place.

I think a good rule of thumb is that most people in new constructions should plan on a 6 month delay on moving in date.

I feel your pain because builders have you hostage.
(2004-07-07 )

Review - Does anyone out there have any information about the Southgate completion? Metro Homes doesn't seem to have any clue. Amazing that the firm is completely incapable of forecasting despite the experience of completing double-digit condo complexes. Metro Homes, as well as the real estate agents that are riding their financial gravy train, have made buying a home the most stressful and miserable process one could imagine with their endless stream of lies. Future buyers beware: the estimated closing date is their hook to get you to take their financial risk off the table. Your REAL estimated closing date is the far off date in the contract that releases you from financial obligation.
