Review - As a San Francisco resident I believe anything I want in life I can find in this remarkable area. Not true. Fortunately I travel a lot. On a recent trip to NYC I need to track down a new sketchbook -- always have one with me, every moment of every day. On my way to lunch at a favorite Soho eatery the cab dropped me a half block from Balthazar. I imagined that later I'd be walking and magically happen upon a street vendor sellinf amazing hand-crafted sketchbooks. That never happens. My plan was to eat, relax, fill the few remaining blank pages in my current sketchbook and head for the usual art stores to grab something merely acceptable. As I stepped from te cab I had to walk around a couple tables of street vendors to get to the sidewalk. One of the tables was covered with amazing hand-made gift cards and...(are you sitting down?) LUSCIUOS hand crafted sketchbooks of every size, color, texture, and at great prices! As an added bonus the creator of these splended cards and proprietress of Luscious Papers, the Amazing Aixa. I returned two months later (on another trip to NYC ) and purchased yet another deliscious sketchbook. This tme the table was attended by the not-at-all-disappointing Amy. Like Aixa, Amy was as knowledgable and beautiful as their wares. The wide variety of blank books from tiny to substantial, bargain priced, will suit the first time doodler, journaler of experienced artist. Re: the score I gave for serivce. I did visit the their table on Spring Stree three times and one of those times a friendly young man was there who didn't have quite the sparkle of Aixa and/or Amy.
