Review - It is really terrible what goes on in this store, and you have to be a paying member to shop there. Every customer is treated as a potential thief. There is staff posted at the exit that examines your backpacks for contraband on exit. They need to compare your purchases to receipt and validate that you haven't stolen anything. The worst is trying to get into the 'cage' which contains computer and electronic products. Try going in there with a backpack or large bag. The staff will not let you. They offer no secure area to leave your bags or backpack and expect you to leave it unattended outside of the area. You cannot enter the are with a shopping cart and I personally have observed many confrontations between staff and customers over this issue. If you leave your cart, unattended of course, outside the cage, it might be there when you return ... if you are lucky. If they are so worried about folks stealing their merchandise, perhaps they should invest in an anti-theft system and not treat us like criminals. The attitude of this store is, We don't trust you, Jersey City, but we want your money. The reality is that their prices are really not competitive and you can get better values and selection at Target or Staples; etc. Foget about shopping here on the weekends, the wait to checkout is unbearable.
I am so tired of the negative experience of this store I will not be renewing my membership when it expires. BJ's was ok when we did not have the selection of retailers available to us a few years back. Times have changed, BJ's should wake up.
