Review - I agree with Jeff. Their horrible service holds them back. If you are not Spanish-speaking or they don't know you, forget it. There is no concept of customer service, and never a manager around when you ask for one. And the service is not better than Hard Grove's. Maybe on par with, but no worse than.

Their redeeming qualities [the only reason I go back] -- the empanadas, the Spanish coffee, the daily specials, and the new decor IS rather bright inviting.

I hope they read this review and take heed, because they really COULD be a gem to downtown Jersey City if the service were better.

Review - Nicely renovated. The service needs improvement. You can wait at the counter or come in and no one will seat or help you.
The language barrier can be a problem at times. I've had my order messed up a couple of times.
But I still enjoy the food. Hard Grove has better service.

Review - The service was horrible!!! The waitress didn't even know what was on the menu. It was as if we asked for Chinese food. The staff ignored us and when we asked for something (that was on the menu) they would just start talking in Spanish as if we were not there. We even asked to speak with a manager but one of the workers told us that there wasn’t a manager. Looks can be deceiving…it looks real nice from the outside but the service will keep us from going back.

Review - Great atmosphere. They've just recently renovated the whole place -- big improvement. Very warm environment, great menu...even better prices. They have daily specials as well as plates available all week. Must try!

Review - Hi,

Whoever called the negative review writers yuppies who don't know what they're talking about, well, you're wrong.

I'm from PR, and I don't know what the hell happens in NYC, or JC, but there are almost no really good cuban/puerto rican/ dominican restaurants at reasonable prices.

I eat at La Conguita bc is the only thing close to me that has decent food cuban food 9forget Hard Grove), And that's basically it, you can eat it for comfort, but it's not really good. the beans need more flavor, the bistecs are very dry and tough to chew, and the yellow rice tastes the same like those Goya instantaneous rice boxes you can buy at the supermarket. Their arroz con gandules is a disappointment, you're lucky if you get ten gandulesin your whole plate.

And as everyone has said, service is incredibly bad, and I speak Spanish, so I guess it's only good for the people they know.

Review - The food is great, traditional latin food, the service could use improvement, but the food more than makes up for it. A lot better than Hard Grove, more authentic, a lot more authentic, can't wait to go back. Jersey City, really needed this place, I used to live there, and only recognized it recently.

Review - Everytime I walk in this place I feel like I am intruding. Kind of like if you accidentally walked into the wrong house. The waitstaff does not acknowledge you. During my last visit, my friend and seated ourselves. The place was fairly empty at the time. Ten minutes later there was still no sign of waitstaff. We walked out. The attitude seems to be ... customers are an iterruption of our work.
The only thing that keeps me coming back is the FANTASTIC Cuban sandwich that I always get to go.
If wanting to be treated as if my business and hard earned cash is appreciated makes be one then add me to the yuppie ranks.

Review - The food is mediocre at best but it is the horrendous customer service that keeps this place from being a gem in Jersey City. Upon walking entering the establishment, it becomes painfully obvious that no one took the time to organize anything. While there, I waited at the counter for at least ten minutes before giving up on the idea of actually being seated and found a table myself. The workers are rude, lack basic communication skills and do not even know what's on their own menu!
