Review - Our family has lived here since Jan 05 and found Portside to be an excellent apartment living experience. The apartments are very interestingly designed, making for a little fun in arranging your home furnishings, the units are as spacious for any zip code within 60 miles of NYC. Yes, there are some issues with drafts through windows and the like, but quite frankly that is being incredibly short sighted given the other excellent values of Portside. They include friendly and attentive security doorfolks (though there are times when it surprises that no one attends the station and the whole place seems exposed - think it's due to the fact that this is safe place to live), reasonable property management staff (some better than others), nice gym, terrific playroom (lifesaver for my 4 year old), a maintenance staff that if you spend time getting to know them as people first, will go out of their way to help you, outstanding views and ease of transportation access in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Yes, are the apartments a little thin walled (what apartments are not anywhere around here) the heater/AC system expensive and inefficient (they do the job however) the overall build and decor a little dated, no parking permits for East Tower residents, but in reality, for the price of the apartmentz, one will get no better value for luxury city living anywhere in the NY/Northern NJ area. We are very satisfied and a job well done by the entire Portside management, security and maintenance staff.

Review - I have lived at Portside Towers for 5yrs now and I have to say I LOVE IT!!!!Genuine and Knowledgeable staff. Greatest Location for living in Jersey. Only minutes away from NYC. Awesome location when it comes down to watching the fireworks. The next best thing about this property is it actually has a front yard (east tower). Check it out!!!!Premium Property!!!

Review - Been living @ Portside East Tower since June 2004. I have absolutely nothing to complain about Portside Towers. It's a great place to live. Easy & fast commute to Manhattan, clean and quiet neighborhood, awesome view of Statue of Liberty and the park from the balcony. Too bad they're raising my rent by $400+, otherwise I'd live here another year.

Review - The new building management is no better than old building management. After numerous unanswered requests for apartment maintenance repairs, Portside is looking to raise our rent $515/month!!!

Review - We have lived in the Portside for 4 years. We had no problems for the first two years. We changed apartments and the hell began. At first, we moved in, and the apartment was filthy (movers were coming on that day and I couldn't change it). The hardwood floors were done improperly and were rough. You couldn't wear bear feet, this being in a 3500.00 per month apartment. The toilet was stopped up and took 3 months to fix (we had two other bathrooms). When we complained they would send someone up but never fix it. Two of our windows leaked, we had to have buckets under both of them when it rained hard. They told us they had to wait until spring to fix them. When spring came they said there was nothing wrong with them. The handle from the microwave broke off and they brought us another 8 year old microwave to replace it. The oven didn't work properly and the property manager came to see it, and asked if it worked? When we told him it worked, but didn't work properly, he rolled his eyes and left.

So we moved apartments again, to another apartment (glutten for punishment I guess). Since then our closet rail fell down when I put my clothes on it. The super told me that I had to many clothes. NOW after 4 years of being here they are trying to raise our rent 300.00 per month.

WELCOME TO THE PORTSIDE. BEWARE

Review - I like the view, the location near the park, and the privacy afforded by a high rise with fenced-in BBQ/seating/playground areas. Sometimes I feel like I am in a hotel. The concierge is nice and helpful. But the management office is terrible at responding to problems and I have heard numerous tenants complain about the same thing-- don't hold your breath after you submit numerous work orders that are never responded to. Also, the prices are becoming too high for a building that is older than the latest construction (I can hear my upstairs and lateral neighbors constantly through the walls) in the area and does not provide sufficient heating or new machines at the gym. The parking spots are way overpriced and too small, but at least you have the option if you are willing to pay for it. I think you can find better for the price they charge.

Review - I live in the West Tower at Portside. I have not experienced any of the problems mentioned in previous posts. Overall, I think that Portside is a great place to live - the doormen are friendly, the apartments are well laid out (although not as modern as some of the newer buildings, i.e., Liberty Towers), and I have had NO problems with the heat. I run my heater for an hour or so a day and my apartment is always warm. I have heard that the West Tower is better constructed, which may explain the complaints of previous posters. Oh, and the views are great.

Review - This building has some good features -- area is pretty quiet, views are nice, gym is good. But the shoddy construction and do no nothing management/maintanence staff ruin it. My kitchen sink regularly floods with backflowing sewage from the drainage pipes that have insufficient capacity. Management won't do anything about it. Construction of the windows/balcony doors is cheap to say the least. There is a constant blast of cold air coming through the large bedroom window that is not insulated at all, the improperly installed heating units, and the completely uninsulated and badly fitted balcony doors. The hallways in the east tower are also not heated at all. They average about 50 degrees in the winter, so you have a constant blast of cold air coming under your door all winter also. So basically, you will freeze all winter long no matter how high you crank the heat up.
