Review - I was recently there for a friend's birthday dinner (10/04). The food is pretty good! I recommend the mango chicken. It's a bit spicy but nothing most people can't handle. For dessert, the chocolate cheescake/ mousse cake was tremendously rich. Perfect for those chocoholics. Also, the key lime pie was nice and quite tasty. I recommend. I had the deep fried banana roll dessert. It was delicious but honestly WAY over priced. It was just a whole banana covered in chocolate and a light filo dough fried to a golden brown. If I really tried, I could do this myself. Also, I didn't have any sushi so I'm not sure how it compares to Komegashi down the street. Also, we sat in the vault dinner room, which was comfy for a large group. It had a tv and a mysterious door in the room. Our mistake. So if you want some pretty good dinner with good to fair service without leaving Jersey City, come to Grand Banks Cafe.

Review - The sushi is decent, but overpriced for what you get. This is not Manhattan. Until recently there were some great sushi specials (half-off, special rolls, all-you-can-eats), but these have recently been eliminated. Given that, we prefer to visit another place. Also, we never understand why we can never get miso soup and/or a salad with dinner: that is usually standard fare at Japanese places.

Review - Been here once for dinner...the food is okay. Nothing extraordinary. The menu is a bit pricey for the food you get. The decor is cool -- as the name implies, it was once a bank. The vault still remains, they've converted it to a pretty private dinner room that you can reserve for parties of 10+.

Review - Went there last night for dinner. Sat in the bar area, and we were mostly ignored. After finally signalling the bartneder/waitress away from chatting with her friends, we got a drink(two of the four beers on tap were unavailable). Food was ordered, and after much delay (again, staff chatting with friends), the malaysian pancake and curry sauce delivered. Pretty insubstantial, and certainly not winning points on presentation, but surprisingly good. Nice pancake and delicious curry sauce. Would have paid more for a portion of food more appropriate to sharing, but still ok. Ordered a selection of sushi, and after another long wait it arrived. The sushi was all pretty good, so definately no complaints on the food.
The reason for mediocre scores is the service! We were ignored the entire evening unless we physically waved someone down (to wipe the table, to bring us another drink to replace an empty soy sauce container with a full one, etc.). Of course, after being ignored all evening, when it came time to pay the bill we got the apology - sorry, we're slammed tonight. Hmmm. Perhaps.
